Mission to mix on an SSL level.

I have been trying to figure out exactly how SSL boards are able to get
a much cleaner mix. Is it all just the engineer? Is it just the equipment?
Well, I came to the conclusion that I has to be more than just the equipment
Because I have heard some pretty good home recording engineers who get
a better sound out of a $2000 studio vs. a $2 million dollar mega studio.
When I first began recording, I thought I had to purchase an SSL board, Neve Pre- amps
Nueman mics and so on. But I learned that with a pretty good pre-amp, Mic, Interface, plug-ins and a great computer one can achieve a pretty close sound.

Question: How do I determine if my room is the right size for a studio again? I forgot how you explained it.

What my paper will be on

I am going to write my two page essay about the difference between recording reel to reel
and recording hard disk. In this paper I will give the advantages and the disadvantages with recording with both. I hope I will also share my experience in hard disk recording and why I feel it is better that reel to reel.

Question: Do I need to use bass traps for a vocal booth?

Looking for a new mic

Looking for a new mic

I am looking for a new microphone. The mic is have now has been good to me but it is time for something more vintage sounding. I have seen a couple of mics that I would like to purchase during my journey to find the perfect mic. One of those mics that I found is the Sterling ST 66. I do not know a lot about this mic other than its reputation while under groove tube. I was told that Sterling bought out groove tube microphones. From my knowledge Groove Tube made pretty good mics. If this is so, I am hoping that their quality precedes this great company. I have been recording with a Studio Projects C1 microphone. It gets a clean recording, but it seems to be a bit high around the 1k-5k area. The C1 tends to sound a little thin too. I love this mic but I am looking for clearity and warmth. I hope the Sterling ST 66 gives me the sound that I am looking for.

My Love for Music

My Love for Music

Music has been a love that I have had for a life time. I have always been around music.
My father always had instruments around the house. My desire is to establish myself financially in my music, but most importantly I want to spread the Gospel through my music.
Being effective in music
I feel there is a great need for musicians to take into consideration of the young people that listen to their music. In my opinion, music is the language of the youth. I am apart of a group by the name of Peculiar Image. We are what I consider to be a good news group that tries to empower and lead people to Christ. We have opened up for some of the biggest names in gospel music. We like to use opportunities like these to give people hope and to inspire them to do greater things in life. To be effective through music is what I would consider success to some degree.
Producing music
Producing music has been something that I have had the privilege of doing for the past 7 years. I began producing because I felt it was not worth paying someone for something I can learn and do my self. My goal was to be one of the great producers in Christian music. I have found being financially successful making music is a difficult task. Through being consistent and remaining faithful, I produced enough albums to be nominated and eventually winning the Texas Holy Hip-Hop Achievement Awards 2007 producer of the year award. Financially, creating music has its ups and downs. I just try to remain optimistic and make music for the love of the art and not the money.

Conclusion
Music is a major part of my life and without it I would feel as if I am not living in my purpose. I thank God for music and the ability that he has given to me. I hope to continue to effect lives and to continue to produce, and record for as long as I can.

SSL Duality mixing console

SSL Duality mixing console
There are a lot of good mixing consoles out there. Some are better suited for project studios and others for a larger commercial studio. There has been no mixing console that has impacted music production like the SSL mixing console has. The SSL console is an analog mixing console with high end eq’s and pre-amps. One would know the difference upon hearing it.
The SSL Duality mixing console is a mixing board that bridges the gap between the digital and analog. This mixing board gives you the ability to work directly with a DAW and still get the fat analog sound that can be heard on classic analog mixing consoles. The Duality console has harmonic drive controls that change the character of the sound recording. For example, the second harmonic drive allows one to add a 50’s warm tube sound or a 70’s transistor sound. What makes the SSL Duality stand out from the pack is 5.1 surround sound mixing capability. The Duality also has digital faders that work with any DAW that supports the software. One sweet addition to this console is its picture icons for each track.
In a nutshell, the SSL Duality mixing console is a mixing board that brings an analog sound to the digital world. It provides the ease of use with its digital functions and offers its tremendous sound characteristics in every channel. The SSL Duality is truly a powerful console.
