Looking for a new mic
I am looking for a new microphone. The mic is have now has been good to me but it is time for something more vintage sounding. I have seen a couple of mics that I would like to purchase during my journey to find the perfect mic. One of those mics that I found is the Sterling ST 66. I do not know a lot about this mic other than its reputation while under groove tube. I was told that Sterling bought out groove tube microphones. From my knowledge Groove Tube made pretty good mics. If this is so, I am hoping that their quality precedes this great company. I have been recording with a Studio Projects C1 microphone. It gets a clean recording, but it seems to be a bit high around the 1k-5k area. The C1 tends to sound a little thin too. I love this mic but I am looking for clearity and warmth. I hope the Sterling ST 66 gives me the sound that I am looking for.
